Still No Soufflé

The new baby may not have arrived, but we are definitely feeling the impact. We had grand plans for the weekend meals, but, mostly due to Robin’s many, many contractions, we lacked the collective strength to accomplish much of anything. Tonight’s meal was born of frustration as much as anything else. Happily, serendipity smiled on us.
We went to the Oregon Grille last weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day. How being at a restaurant with 800 other people is romantic is beyond us. There were two other couples while we were there (which was admittedly quite early). The maître d’ was in the process of recording the Valentine’s greeting when we left, “Sorry, the Oregon Grille has no more reservations for Valentine’s Day.”

Even though we had already celebrated, we still planned on doing something a little special. When Robin first visited Chris’s place when they were dating, Chris and his roommates put together a homemade pasta dish with a scallop cream sauce. The way to a man’s heart may run through his stomach, but the babes are really impressed by a man that can cook!

Romance this weekend was to take the form of a reproduction of that fine meal – homemade pasta and all. Robin also wanted to serve chocolate soufflés like we did last year. Sadly, that never came to pass. Saturday, we had dinner at the local diner. Tonight more leftovers. Lucky for us, leftovers can be pretty darn good!
