Meals from August 2004

2004-08-01 Pizza on the Grill

And today, we grilled the pizza. Thursday’s menu was assembled such that we would have everything necessary for quick preparation tonight. That gave adults and kids alike plenty of time to prepare their own pizzas. The kids were terribly cute flattening the dough. They certainly enjoyed their handiwork (as did we)—no leftovers tonight!

2004-08-03 A Real BBQ

“Wow Mom! That’s like… like… like real food!” Kids are good for that kind of ego boosting. It’s what any parent lives for. Needless to say, if the kids recognize dinner as “real food”, it must be good. And it was.

2004-08-09 Ratatouille Kids

The kids wore their aprons tonight. They mostly cleaned herbs which, as anyone with any sense knows, is rather messy work requiring aprons. Even helping with the meal only evoked a mixed reaction from the kids when it came time to eat. We continue to hope that someday they will appreciate this stuff.

2004-08-15 Birthday Visit

This is Robin’s birthday weekend. Uncle Nick came down for a visit to help celebrate. He brought his 8 year old nephew Tyler along, so we have been busy, to say the least. On his last night here, and to help celebrate Robin’s birthday, Nick made dinner, with an assist from Robin of course!

2004-08-23 After Festival Leftovers

After a weekend filled with festivals, we slow down with leftovers. We re-enjoy the ratatouille from earlier in the month. It was very good then and is very good tonight. To freshen the meal, we also eat a nice little salad with walnuts.

2004-08-30 Mystery Pasta

It came from the recesses of the freezer. Dinner that is. While rummaging through the freezer over the weekend, Robin came across some unmarked pasta. Since we hate to let anything go to waste, we re-heat it tonight, dressing it up with the components of pesto. Robin claims the pasta was frozen this month and that it was garlic and oil spaghetti, but we may never know for certain…
